ALEXANDRA  MARCOUX

Immigration and Naturalization Lawyer
Attorney Profile

Alexandra Marcoux represents clients exclusively in immigration and nationality law matters. Born and raised in Quebec, Canada, she is fully bilingual in French and English. She is admitted to practice law in Florida and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and she is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), including its South Florida Chapter.

Ms. Marcoux received a Canadian bachelor of laws degree from the University of Montreal in 2005 and studied law abroad at the Université Paris 2 (Panthéon-Assas) in Paris prior to moving to Florida in 2005. She then earned her U.S. law degree from Nova Southeastern University, where she graduated with magna cum laude honors in 2008. While a student at Nova, Ms. Marcoux was a staff member of the Nova Law Review and a Teaching Assistant for her constitutional law and torts law professors, and she received book awards for her achievements in the study of torts and business law.

Ms. Marcoux opened her own immigration law practice in April 2009. Since then, she has had the pleasure of representing clients in a variety of business and family immigration matters. The employment-based side of her practice includes assisting foreign investors and business owners with the formation
and development of their businesses in the U.S. as well as the processing of E-2 treaty investor visas and L-1 corporate transfer visas. Also, Ms. Marcoux represents companies and their foreign employees with regard to work visas (TN and H-1B visas for professionals, E-2 visas for employees of treaty investors, O visas for extraordinary ability, H-2B visas for seasonal employees, J-1 for exchange visitors, etc.), and she handles labor certification and permanent residence applications.

As for the family-based side, Ms. Marcoux guides couples and families through the family-based petition process, including K-1 fiancé(e) and K-3 spousal visas, both inside the United States and abroad through consular processing. She also represents permanent residents seeking to become U.S. citizens through naturalization, individuals in need of a waiver of inadmissibility to enter the United States and immigrants charged with immigration law violations before the immigration court in Miami.

Because U.S. immigration is so large and complex, Ms. Marcoux chooses to focus her attention solely on this field. She attends immigration law conferences on a regular basis in order to stay up to date with the rules and procedures affecting her clients.
She also strongly believes in giving back to the immigrant community, and occasionally will take an immigration case pro bono or give legal advice free of charge for non-profit legal organizations in South Florida. Ms. Marcoux is also proud to offer a free weekly chat on this website, where she answers quick and non-urgent immigration questions every Thursday between 4:00 and 5:00 pm (eastern).
